As your students take on greater responsibility at school and at work, their ability to effectively motivate others will be essential to their success as a leader. In this LAP, students will discover the importance of motivation, learn how to identify common motivators within their teammates, and master proven techniques for boosting motivation among diverse teams of people. They will gain an in-depth understanding of human motivation by exploring Maslow’s hierarchy of needs, an influential theory that helps explain how and why people are motivated. In the Gray Zone, students will consider a situation in which a team leader is struggling to motivate two of their group members for a school project—a situation that many of your students may find familiar.

LAPs (Learning Activity Packages) are comprehensive instructional packages that include all elements of a performance-oriented lesson plan. This LAP includes a student handout (with CopyIT! permission) that includes information about motivating others, a (So What?) discussion of why it's important to learn, and a short (Gray Zone) case addressing ethical issues. Click here for a sample of the student section. The instructor section features a comprehensive discussion guide, complete practice- (short answer) and post-tests (multiple-choice) with descriptive keys, student activities, and more.

Bring your discussions to life with our PowerPoint presentation featuring a broad range of graphics and special effects to help keep students interested. This professionally produced presentation consists of 25 slides.
